Sixpenny Handley, Salisbury
Project Overview
We recently completed a bespoke solar PV and battery storage installation for a property in Sixpenny Handley, near Salisbury, designed to help the homeowners generate more of their own electricity, store surplus solar energy and make greater use of renewable energy throughout the day and evening.
The system combines a high-output solar PV array, Sigenergy battery storage, a hybrid inverter, home backup capability and EV charging, creating an integrated energy solution for the property.
The Installation
The completed system consists of:
- 19 × LONGi Hi-MO X10 480W solar panels
- 1 × Sigenergy SigenStor 10kW Hybrid Inverter
- 2 × Sigenergy 8.76kWh batteries
- 1 × Sigenergy HomePro Backup Gateway
- 1 × myenergi Zappi GLO EV charger
The 19 solar panels provide a total installed PV capacity of 9.12kWp, giving the property a substantial renewable energy generation capability.
The system was designed around the homeowners’ existing and future energy requirements, with battery storage allowing excess solar generation to be captured rather than simply exported to the grid.
Smart Energy Generation & Storage
The LONGi Hi-MO X10 480W panels provide the property with a high-capacity solar generation system, allowing the homeowners to generate clean electricity directly from their roof.
During periods of high solar production, electricity can be used within the property first, with surplus generation available to charge the battery storage.
The two Sigenergy 8.76kWh batteries provide a combined usable storage capacity of 17.52kWh, allowing excess energy generated during the day to be stored for later use.
This helps the homeowners make better use of the electricity their solar array produces, particularly during the evening and at other times when solar generation is lower.
Sigenergy Hybrid System
At the heart of the installation is a 10kW Sigenergy SigenStor Hybrid Inverter, providing the connection between the solar PV system, battery storage and property’s electrical supply.
The hybrid system gives the installation the flexibility to intelligently manage energy generated by the solar array and stored within the batteries.
The system also incorporates a Sigenergy HomePro Backup Gateway, providing backup functionality and helping to maintain power to the property during a grid outage, subject to the configured backup loads and system conditions.
EV Charging
To complement the solar and battery installation, we also installed a Myenergi Zappi GLO EV charger.
The Zappi provides a convenient home charging solution and allows the homeowners to incorporate their electric vehicle into their wider energy strategy.
With solar generation available on site, the installation provides the potential to charge the vehicle using electricity generated from the property’s own PV system, helping to maximise the value of the renewable energy being produced.
A Complete Home Energy Solution
Rather than installing solar panels as a standalone system, this project was designed as an integrated energy solution.
The combination of:
9.12kWp Solar PV + 17.52kWh Battery Storage + 10kW Hybrid Inverter + Home Backup + EV Charging
gives the homeowners greater flexibility over how and when they use the electricity they generate.
The system is designed to help:
- Increase self-consumption of solar energy
- Reduce reliance on electricity from the grid
- Store surplus solar generation for later use
- Provide a dedicated EV charging solution
- Improve energy resilience with backup capability
- Future-proof the property’s energy infrastructure
- Make better use of renewable electricity generated on site
The Result
The completed installation provides the Sixpenny Handley property with a modern, integrated renewable energy system capable of generating, storing and intelligently managing electricity.
By combining high-efficiency LONGi solar panels with Sigenergy battery technology, a hybrid inverter, home backup and Myenergi EV charging, we have created a system tailored around the property’s energy needs rather than simply installing a conventional solar PV array.
It is a great example of how solar generation, battery storage, EV charging and backup power can work together as one complete home energy solution.
