Project Overview:
Recently, JME Energy undertook the installation of a Qubev electric charge point on a listed property in Warsash. This project presented unique challenges due to the property’s status and the tight timescale we were working with. Despite adverse weather conditions, our team successfully completed the installation within the allocated two-day timeframe.
Technical Details:
Cable Installation: We pulled in a 10.00mm SWA cable over a 40-meter run through pre-laid underground ducting. This cable was supplied directly from the house’s main intake position and protected with a 63 amp Lewden fuse carrier.
Space Constraints: The main intake position offered limited working space, requiring us to move the existing fuse board to accommodate the new fuse carrier. This was a meticulous task that demanded precision and careful planning.
Weather Challenges: The installation took place during a period of heavy rain, adding an extra layer of complexity. Our team remained diligent and focused, ensuring that the installation proceeded smoothly despite the challenging weather conditions.
Internet Connectivity: To ensure the charge point’s connectivity, we extended internet access from a Wi-Fi booster to the charger using an Ethernet cable. This involved precise routing and installation to maintain a stable connection.
Carport Installation: At the end of the 40-meter SWA run, we reached a sheltered wooden carport where the charger was to be sited. We installed a 6-way fuse board in a room within the carport, providing enough capacity to run the EV charger itself, as well as small power and lighting needs.
Lighting Solution: To enhance usability, we installed a PIR floodlight to illuminate the charger, ensuring visibility during dark conditions.
Outcome:
The installation was completed successfully within the two-day timescale, despite the constraints and challenges faced. This project highlighted our team’s ability to adapt and perform under pressure, maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Client Benefits:
Efficient Service: The client benefited from a quick and efficient installation process, minimizing disruption to their daily routine.
Enhanced Property Value: The addition of an electric charge point enhances the property’s value and appeal, especially in a market increasingly focused on sustainability.
Reliable Connectivity and Lighting: By extending internet connectivity to the charge point and installing a floodlight, we ensured reliable operation and ease of use for the client, even in low-light conditions.
Customer Feedback:
The client left a glowing review on Google, stating:
“Very good work on an EV charger installation in a listed building, and within a conservation area. Work carefully and neatly completed. Everything fully explained and all complexities overcome without fuss. Highly recommend as a responsible and professional service provider.”
This feedback underscores the quality of our work and our commitment to providing a professional and responsible service.
This case study exemplifies JME Energy’s commitment to delivering high-quality installations, even under challenging circumstances. Our team’s expertise and dedication ensure that we meet our clients’ needs, providing sustainable energy solutions tailored to their specific requirements.
